Cause and Effect

Lorelai Gilmore had her daughter Rory at a very young age.

This accidental pregnancy could have been a result of two irresponsible teenagers having unprotected sex, or maybe Lorelai got pregnant on purpose as an act of rebellion towards her parents. A third cause of this pregnancy could have been that maybe Lorelai wanted to get pregnant.

Whatever the cause of this pregnancy was, it lead to the birth of Lorelai's daughter, Rory.

When Lorelai's parents found out about their daughter's pregnancy, Emily and Richard Gilmore were outraged.

This pregnancy also lead to the end of the relationship between Lorelai and Chris, Rory's father.

The ultimate outcome of this pregnancy was the strengthening of Lorelai's independence.

Advocacy

Generosity stems from a selflessness that allows a person to put others before themselves. Lorelai Gilmore exhibits generosity.

When Rory's friend Lane needed a place to stay after Lane's mother kicked her out of her house, Lorelai welcomed Lane into Lorelai's own house and allowed Lane to stay with her. Lorelai didn't collect rent from Lane, and allowed Lane to stay for as long as she needed.

Another instance in which Lorelai showed her generosity was when Luke's nephew, Jess, needed a job. Despite the fact that Lorelai didn't care too much for Jess, Lorelai still found odd jobs around her house that Jess could do for a little bit of money.

When Rory needed money to go to Yale, Lorelai was willing to give up her lifelong dream of owning her own inn so that her daughter could go to one of the best colleges.

Lorelai Gilmore was a generous woman.
